The Priory Centre

Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) and St Neots Town Council (SNTC) are proud to be leading the transformation of the Priory Centre — an exciting redevelopment project that will give this much-loved venue a bold new future at the heart of the town.

As part of the wider Market Towns Programme, the refurbishment and expansion — designed by AOC Architects and set to be delivered by contractor SEH French Ltd — will reimagine the Priory Centre as a modern, welcoming, and versatile community space. The new design embraces its unique riverside setting, with improved access, flexible layouts, and light-filled interiors that reflect the way people live, work, and connect today.

Although construction is set to begin shortly, the project has already seen significant progress behind the scenes. Since the centre closed its doors, extensive surveys, investigations, and design work have been underway to prepare for a smooth and successful transformation. These efforts have laid strong foundations — both literally and figuratively — for the redevelopment to follow.

Inside, the refurbished centre will offer a fresh and contemporary feel. Clean architectural lines, natural materials, and thoughtful finishes will create a space that feels both professional and welcoming. Whether you’re attending a performance, hosting a meeting, joining a class, or simply enjoying the riverside setting, the new Priory Centre will be a place that feels open, inclusive, and inspiring.

More than a building project, this is a meaningful investment in the cultural and social life of St Neots. The Priory Centre will be reshaped into a dynamic hub where people come together—for community, for creativity, and for celebration.

While the doors of the Priory Centre are temporarily closed, we’re still here for you. Guests and hirers are warmly welcomed at the Eaton Centre and the Priory Centre Café at New Street, where you can book rooms and access all the services the Priory Centre usually provides.
