The Hub at Wintringham is an important part of the future of the eastern expansion of St Neots. It will provide the main centre for shops, services and leisure amenities within Wintringham, and will also support the existing and planned growth of Love’s Farm.

The planning application is due to be submitted in late Summer and, subject to planning consent, work on the first buildings could start late this year/early 2026.

Get Ready, Go Digital, Stay Connected

Ccc Digitalswitchovercommnews (002)

Is your landline ready?

By January 2027*, traditional landlines will be upgraded to digital. This national Digital Switchover means landline calls will go over the internet instead of the old phone network. Providers are managing the switch, but everyone should check how it may affect them—especially if they rely on their landline or use telecare devices.

For many, the change is simple: just plug your phone into a broadband router instead of a phone socket. But if you use care alarms, medical devices, or depend on a landline to stay connected, it’s important to understand what’s changing and what to do next.

Connecting Cambridgeshire’s Get Ready, Go Digital, Stay Connected campaign helps residents feel confident and prepared.

You may be affected if you:

  • Don’t have internet at home
  • Use a landline that hasn’t yet been upgraded
  • Rely on telecare or personal alarms (e.g. fall monitors, lifelines)

3 things to do now:

Contact your phone provider to check if you’re affected.
Ask a trusted friend or family member for help if needed.
Use a fall/personal alarm? Contact your alarm provider to make sure it will still work.

Beware of scams – You don’t need to pay upfront. If you get a suspicious call, hang up and call your provider using the number from your bill.

Help others – Know someone who might be affected? A quick conversation or offer to help them check could make a big difference.

No one should be left behind. Whether it’s you, a neighbour, or a relative, now’s the time to ask: Is your landline ready?

*Deadline confirmed by Openreach at time of publication.
